Nam Binh Thần Khí

Nam Binh Thần Khí was my first take in the professional game industry. It is a hardcore turn-based battle & character collecting game.

Prologue

In 2017, through a connection, I joined this project with a hope that I could make something cool in the Vietnam indie game.

Almost all the assets are prepared already, but no game design to help create gameplay, mechanics and documentations for the game. Therefore I jumped in and start creating every aspect of the game design from the scratch.

Combat System

The combat system of NBTK is a fusion of many games that I took inspiration from. However, Eiyuu Senki sure gave a push to make a grid board turn-based game. 

The battle system features attacks, skills, counter-attacks, dodge and move around the board. Each of skills can be divided into components to swap around, such as: target define, condition to use, instruct to damage or effect, area of effect, etc..

Character System

With the gacha system, the game has more than 30 characters available to play with. Each of them has their own stats and skills, specialize in each of their own niche.

Players can increase their character level, skill level, and equip them with multiple upgrades.

Epilogue

The game was closed down (sadly) but this marked my first milestone of creating a full gameplay and all aspects for an GAAS product.
